Maintaining Nasal Health Between Exams

Posterior rhinoscopy lets us see the very back of your nose and the upper part of your throat behind your nose, called the nasopharynx. We often use a small mirror inserted through the mouth to get a view of the back of your nasal cavity and the nasopharynx. We might use a numbing spray in your throat to make this more comfortable and reduce any gagging.

While often managed with medication and home care, severe or chronic cases of laryngitis (inflammation of the larynx) and pharyngitis (inflammation of the pharynx or sore throat) might require intervention by an ENT doctor.

This technique involves using a thin, flexible tube with a tiny camera and Lastgame says light at the end, just like we use for looking at your voice box. This allows the doctor to view the entire nasal cavity and the nasopharynx in detail. This is usually done in our office, and we'll use a numbing spray in your nose to make it more comfortable. This is particularly useful for checking for things like sinus infections (sinusitis), nasal polyps (growths in your nose), and any problems with the structure of your nasal passages.
